The New Era of Water Park

Pandawa Water World is one of the newest yet favorite tourism site to visit in Surakarta (Solo), Central Java. The site had it’s soft opening on the 18th of December 2008. It is located just about 1 kilometers south from downtown Solo. The water park is the only one in the city and is the largest in Central Java and Yogyakarta. The cost of constructing the site is no less than 50 billion rupiah (around $5.3 million). Due to future renovation plans, the cost will rise up, at least doubling the initiating value.

This wonderful site doesn’t just provide an ordinary swimming pool, it has many water slides and adventurous ones to contribute new swimming experience for its visitors. Entering the site, visitors will directly witness the world of Wayang in giant sizes. Corresponding to the name of the site, The Pandawa Lima (Five Pandawa) Statues are built to embeklish the sight of its visitors. The Five Pandawa are princes in the epic story of Mahabharata. The statues are made in a very big size measuring more than 30 meters of height. The 37-meter high Kresna Statue is standing strong decorating the artificial cave beneath it which is surrounded by water. Don’t miss the one and only superhero legend in Indonesia, Gatotkaca, in a giant statue form in flying position as though it came from outer space. In front of Gatotkaca, stands Bima or Sena holding the Rujakpolo Club as a guardian. Not far from Bima, stand the archer Arjuna with his soft-hearted look but always on his guard, ready to release the arrow from his bow. From the decoration of the site, it’s visible that the nuance is a mixture of traditional and modern elements. A very good example of a construction that still preserves cultural elements. From the design, visitors are expected to not only spend leisure time in their holiday, but also appreciate the world of Wayang.

The rides and facilities that Pandawa Water World offers are surving boogie, an artificial wave similar to ones from the ocean. Here, visitors can surf in a sleeping position.  There’s also the Lazy River, the facility where you can relax and play in a 500 meter long river. The water slide is one of the recommended rides. Visitors can experience what it’s like to launch down on a slippery 137 meter long water slide towards the swimming pool. The Black Hole is similar to the water slide, but for this ride the pipe is sealed to give the person a more terrifying feeling inside. For those who enjoys the pleasure of diving from height, there’s the Bungy Tower. Feel the exciting sensation of diving from this 47-meter high tower. After having fun playing with the amazing rides and facilities, don’t hesitate to visit the large food court where it serves various kinds of meals from local to international ones.
