Preparing for Chinese New Year, Medan's Imlek Fair is a spectacular stage, offering a large variety of products, art and culture performances, food and drinks and multi-ethnic entertainment. The event will take place at the Central Business District (CBD) at Polonia, Medan on 15-23 January 2011. The Imlek Fair 2011 is a cultural ceremony and ritual procession to welcome the New Year with new hope and spirit to gain better achievement in life.
The Imlek Fair in Medan has become an annual event since 2004 and is expected to become the largest multi-business exhibition in 2011. This outdoor exhibition held at the beginning of the year 2011 has as vision endorsing new hope to increase economic activities and improve the trade climate compared to last year in North Sumatra, in particular in the city of Medan.
The theme chosen for Imlek Fair 2011 comes from the philosophical values of the Year of the Rabbit which is “Peace and Friendship”. With numerous art and cultural shows, especially following the Chinese culture, this event becomes a global public entertainment arena not limited for those of Chinese descent. This is what makes Imlek fair unique, where people of all ethnic groups and religions can mix peacefully, which is also a reflection of the tolerant way of life in Medan.
